About the EDA
Economic Development Authority
Formed in 1968, the "Development Growth of East Grand Forks Inc" had shareholders, board of directors, and worked closely with the chamber of commerce.
Their mission was to further the economic development of East Grand Forks and vicinity; to aid , assist, and promote the growth, expansion, and development of business concerns in said area; to encourage and assist in the location of new business and industry, rehabilitate and assist existing business firms and industry in said area; to accomplish these purposes by making plant other facilities available to all such business concerns through lease or other means ad thereby to contribute to the economic well-being of the area as measured by increased employment, payroll, business volume, and corresponding factors rather than monetary profits to the shareholders.
The Economic Development Authority of East Grand Forks formalized in October 1986. Though the mission statement has evolved over time the intention, purpose, and will remains the same. Our mission today:
The mission of the Economic Development Authority is to maintain and improve the economic vitality of East Grand Forks by doing the following by:
• retaining & growing local businesses
• creating & supporting investment & growth opportunities for commercial activities
• creating & supporting opportunities for residential growth, including workforce housing
• working to develop a workforce capable of meeting current & future needs of local employers.

Board of Directors
Our board is comprised of seven members with two city councilors, and five board members. The executive committee has a president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. Board terms are six years by appointment of the Mayor and terms can be renewed. The executive positions are two-year term lengths. Typically, the City Attorney, Finance Director, City Administrator, and Executive Admin attend the meetings to support the economic efforts.







Loan Committee
The Loan Committee vets applications for incentives and financing from businesses. Applications are due the second Friday of the month. The committee meets between then and the forth Wednesday to approve applications or provide feedback. After this, applications receive their final approval process through the regular EDA Board meeting on the forth Wednesday of the month.
Committee members include: Justin Hecht, Ben Pokrzywinski, Ben Horken, Karla Anderson (City Finance Director), and Ron Galstad (City Attorney).
