Rural Childcare Innovation Program

RCCIP a team of COMMUNITY members who care
Started in 2021 with the help of First Children's Finance, a community group of stakeholders formed to tackle issues around affordable and accessible childcare in East Grand Forks.
Our active committee meets monthly on the third Thursday via Teams to tackle local problems, help providers, and work to improve East Grand Forks' childcare industry.
We also have a grant committee that seeks donations (both in-kind & monetary) to help afford trainings, certifications, toys & books, for local providers to ensure our kids have access to the best experience during their daycare years. They help oversee the re-grants program for providers.
Our committee is always welcoming of passionate new-comers who want to help with local childcare issues.

Let Us Know ⬇️
Childcare providers, here's a quick survey to let us know any struggles or frustrations you may be facing. With this helpful, anonymous, aggregated feedback, we can let local leaders and legislators know what you need to thrive so they can make good policy decisions.
In-Home Childcare
Starting home-based services is easier to navigate and works directly with Polk Co. licensing. The cost is more manageable, however, there are limitations on number of attendees.
Curious about other options besides in your home? Pod model childcare is an option too! Read more about co-location and pod model here.
Thinking of starting your own in-home daycare? The EDA and Annabelle at Polk Co. are here to assist!

Centers & Facilities
The cost and requirements for centers is more demanding. It takes about 120 or more attendees to make it the business profitable. This is an ideal option for an aspiring entrepreneur who wants to hire staff and have a daycare outside their home. The EDA has lending and subsidy programs available to turn your dreams into a reality.
